Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of our PostgreSQL database. This position involves both strategic planning and hands-on operational duties, including database design, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting. You will collaborate closely with our development and operations teams to maintain seamless database operations while optimizing performance.

As a PostgreSQL Database Administrator, you will be expected to design and implement robust database systems, monitor performance, ensure data integrity, and manage security measures. You will also be responsible for overseeing backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes. A deep understanding of database architecture, SQL proficiency, and extensive experience in tuning and optimization. In addition, familiarity with database tools, automation, and scripting will be crucial for streamlining operations. Exceptional problem-solving abilities, keen attention to detail, and the ability to perform well under pressure are vital for success in this role. 

Role of PostgreSQL Database Administrator:

• Database Optimization: Optimize PostgreSQL performance using advanced techniques to handle high transaction volumes and complex queries efficiently.
• Maintenance & Upgrades: Conduct routine database maintenance, including backups, restorations, and upgrades, ensuring seamless operations without client downtime.
• Security: Implement and uphold stringent database security protocols, such as role-based access controls, encryption, and regular vulnerability assessments.
• Problem-solving: Rapidly resolve database issues and develop long-term solutions to prevent future incidents.
• Capacity Planning: Evaluate and forecast future database capacity needs, proactively planning scalable solutions to accommodate growth.
• Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver infrastructure that supports enterprise-level applications.
• Innovation: Stay ahead of the curve by exploring and integrating cutting-edge database technologies and methodologies to continuously improve Traction Ag’s data capabilities.

• Develop and execute efficient backup and recovery strategies.
• Plan and implement disaster recovery protocols.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams for seamless integration.
• Automate database tasks to improve efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate documentation of database operations, standards, and configurations.
• Implement database upgrades, patches, and regular maintenance.
• Monitor database health using performance metrics and tracking tools.
• Ensure compliance with relevant data protection laws and regulations.
• Provide database support and troubleshoot issues as needed.
• Conduct capacity planning for future database needs.

Requirements for PostgreSQL Database Administrator:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
• Proven experience as a PostgreSQL Database Administrator.
• Strong expertise in database architecture and design principles.
• Hands-on experience with performance tuning and database optimization.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL and database scripting.
• Familiarity with database management tools and technologies.
• Experience managing backup and recovery processes.
• Knowledge of disaster recovery planning and execution.
