Job Title: SAP Basis Administration

Job Overview

As an SAP Basis Administrator, you will be tasked with designing, developing, and configuring applications to align with business processes and application requirements. A significant focus of your role will be pivotal on SAP Basis Administration, ensuring the seamless operation of SAP systems and addressing technical challenges that arise.

Key Responsibilities

Stepping into the role of an SAP Basis Administrator brings with it a wide range of critical responsibilities essential for maintaining the efficiency of SAP systems. Here is an overview of the core duties:

• Installation and Configuration: You will be responsible for the installation and configuration of SAP systems, which includes setting up servers, and databases, and integrating various components. These foundational tasks are crucial for establishing a stable SAP environment that supports business operations.
• User Administration: You will manage user accounts, assign roles and permissions, and ensure users have appropriate access to SAP functions. Effective user administration is key to maintaining system security and operational fluidity.
• System Monitoring: Continuous monitoring of system resources such as CPU, memory, and disk space will be part of your daily routine. Identifying and resolving issues before they affect performance is vital to ensure optimal system functionality.
• Transport Management: Managing changes across SAP systems through the Transport Management System (TMS) will be one of your primary responsibilities. You will ensure that system modifications, including configuration settings and development changes, are transported securely and consistently.
• Backup and Recovery: Regular backups and swift recovery solutions are essential for safeguarding data integrity and system availability. You will implement backup procedures and ensure systems can be restored in the event of a failure.
   

Desired Experience

• A Bachelor’s/College Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in SAP Basis Administration.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• 4-7 years experience with SAP NetWeaver application server administration in a UNIX environment.
• 1-3 years of experience in SAP Solution Manager for planning, configuration, and centralized monitoring.
   

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of IT experience in SAP technology.
• Experience in setting up and managing SAP transport landscapes, including CHARM usage.
• Familiarity with Solution Manager administration and the SAP Service Marketplace (OSS).
• Knowledge of Shell and Perl programming.

• Proficient in SAP Basis Administration.
• Expertise in system monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to collaborate across functions and solve complex problems.
• Up-to-date with advancements in SAP Basis Administration to enhance system reliability and performance.
   

Additional Information

• At least 2 years of SAP Basis Administration experience is required.
• A strong educational background in software engineering or a related field is preferred.
   

Leadership & Team Management Responsibilities

• Led and mentored the SAP BASIS team by providing technical direction, conducting training sessions, and overseeing performance evaluations to foster growth and efficiency within the team.
• Manage task distribution and workload, ensuring that team members complete projects and operational tasks on schedule and to the highest standard.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies by collaborating with internal and external ITGC auditors. Oversee key areas such as access control, change management, security protocols, system operations, and business continuity plans, including backup and restoration processes.
• Coordinate with external vendors, consultants, and partners to manage support services. This includes holding regular cadence calls with SAP Cloud and Technical Support Managers to ensure effective collaboration and issue resolution.
• Foster clear and efficient communication within the SAP BASIS team and across other departments to ensure alignment on objectives and tasks.
